The Personal Public Service Number is a code that the Irish Government uses to identify a person living in Ireland.
You need the PPS Number to work in Ireland since it is the code that you’ll need to pay the taxes, and so that your employer can pay your Social Insurance contribution.
You will need the PPS Number in order to access Social Welfare benefits, public services and information in Ireland.
The code is formed by 7 numbers and one or two letters.
To obtain your PPS number, you will need to go in one of the Social Welfare Office (here is the list of offices in Ireland) and produce the following documents:
- Your passport or your ID card (only for EU/EEA citizen)
- Evidence of your address
- Evidence that you have a regular job in Ireland
For further information about what can you do with your PPS number, here is the link of the Social Welfare website.
If you are living in one of our houses, EazyCity will provide you a letter to prove your address. Just ask for it in our office!
